The City of Homewood
Garbage is any food product or organic matter (like diapers) that will rot and cause odor or pest problems. The City of Homewood does not supply garbage cans.

Pick-up days & times
Garbage is picked up every day except Wednesday around 6:00 a.m. throughout Homewood. Please have your garbage out the night before, or before 6:00 a.m. on the morning of pick-up. If you are unsure which day your garbage will be picked up, call Homewood Public Services: 205-332-6819.
We will put your garbage out for you
Here is another bonus for living in the City of Homewood, you don’t have to struggle to get your garbage can to the curb on garbage days. Homewood is one of the few municipalities that still offers back door pick-up service. Our workers come to the rear of your house or side door (wherever it is convenient for you) and takes your garbage to the curb for you. Some folks have an alley where they can place their garbage and that is perfectly fine as well. Call us @ 205-332-6819 and let us know how we can best serve you for this service, or let us know that you do not want back door service.
Please place your garbage containers outside the fenced yard where any pet may be so workers can get the garbage. Workers will not go into an area that contains an animal.
